Campfire chat. A special time families look forward to.
Children Lead. Families Grow. English Comes Naturally.
A carefully structured 1-night outdoor experience designed to build confidence, responsibility, and real English communication — in a small, intentional setting.
You are not sending your child away.
You are standing one step behind them as they grow.
July 18 (土) – July 19 (日) | Limited to 5 Families
Previous「Kids Camp」families will receive priority access.
No payment required today. Secure your spot first.
In a few years, your child may not remember the worksheets.
They will remember the night they built a fire and spoke English under the trees.
When you look back years from now, this may be one of the first times your child stepped forward independently — and discovered they could.
A Message From the Director
For over 25 years, I have guided children in education and outdoor programs. I personally lead each session. This camp is intentionally limited to five families. Small size is the foundation. With only five families participating, safety, clarity, and individual attention are never compromised.
Our camp is more than just a place to learn English. It’s where children gain the confidence to say “I did it!” Parents, please relax with a coffee and watch your child’s breakthrough from 1-step behind.
My hope is simple: that your child leaves with confidence, meaningful memories, and the courage to try. It would be a privilege to welcome your family to camp.
The Core Vision
The Kyoto Forest is Our Classroom. Adventure is Our Language.
This is lived language — English is embedded in each activity. English is not studied here.
It is used — while building, exploring, solving, and sharing. Building on the foundation of our 「Kids Camp – Mori no Bouken」program, this program combines outdoor challenges with natural English communication in an immersive environment. We practice English by doing, not through theory.
Children laugh, explore, solve challenges, and naturally use English throughout the experience.
By holding this English camp in a limited small group capacity, children don’t feel forgotten, or blend into the background. Each child is noticed and called upon to participate in the activities. Furthermore, parents are afforded the rare opportunity to observe their children interacting and communicating.
Inspired by education models, where independence and experiential learning are emphasized, our “Canadian Style” approach prioritizes independence, hands-on learning, and the quiet beauty of the Kyoto countryside landscape. This isn’t just a camp; it’s a study-abroad style experience — thoughtfully adapted for families in Japan.
Trying something new can feel significant — especially overnight. This program is intentionally small and thoughtfully structured so families can feel supported every step of the way.
“Two days where English becomes a shared family memory. Sometimes growth begins quietly — around a campfire, beside a river, or in a small moment of courage.”
Why Families Choose This Camp Only 5 Families | Full 2-Day Experience (9:00–16:00)
A true two full-day structure — not just an overnight stay.
The 1:5 Family Ratio: Our intentionally small size allows for attentive guidance and meaningful connection. We limit our intake to strictly 5 families. The camp is personally led by an experienced native English-speaking educator. Each child is seen clearly.
Parents remain actively involved: Parents participate from a ‘1-step behind’ position so you create a shared memory where you see the “First Spark” of their confidence in real-time.
Real Language Skills: Your child uses English naturally while playing, building, interacting, and exploring outdoors.
1-on-1 Camp Feedback: Each family will receive individual 1-1 feedback with the Director, getting personalized encouragement and growth comments.
“These are the kinds of weekends families talk about for years.”
Measured Experience
Many children speak more English on Day 2 than Day 1.
Children rotate through 8–10 guided activity sessions across two days.
Calm water. Clear stones. Unhurried discovery.
Gentle Riverside Exploration
A quiet seasonal experience weaving beautifully through the camp.
Running through the campsite, a shallow and gently flowing river offers a calm place for adventure. Small river creatures invite quiet discovery — and natural English conversation that arises from real curiosity, not forced performance.
With water only ankle-deep, children observe the stones, search for river creatures and take in nature at their own pace.
Carefully supervised and thoughtfully integrated, this riverside time becomes a lasting highlight of their time at the camp. This is not a rushed activity — it is space to notice, explore, and speak naturally.
“In just two days, I watched my child’s confidence change.
He was communicating without hesitation by the second day.”
Language Usage at Camp
English is used throughout the program. Participation expands naturally as confidence builds. Bilingual support is available when needed, while interactions continue primarily in English to encourage confidence.
Throughout the two days, children repeatedly use English during structured workshops, outdoor challenges, and spontaneous moments of discovery.
By the end of two days, many children speak more freely.
We encourage English language usage while at camp. While some children thrive in such an environment, while others find it more difficult, and may need to use some Japanese. We encourage the interaction, but may respond in English, thus turning it into a ‘teachable moment’.
The staff are bilingual, but will encourage the children to speak in English. We don’t want children to feel pressured into speaking English, possibly creating negative feelings towards the language.
By the end of the two days, many children speak more freely — not because they were forced, but because they felt safe enough to try.
“Just the act of interacting with a foreign person can be exhilarating, and create a memorable positive experience.”
A fire built by their own hands. “I did it!”
Evening Campfire & Chat
“I did it!”
Selecting the kindling…
As evening settles over the campground, families gather around the stone fire pit. Guided by staff, children discover the art of building a fire—the selection of kindling, the breath of the flame, and the triumphant success of the very first spark.
Once the fire is steady, the atmosphere shifts to our evening “Chat.” In the warmth of the fire, children use their own words to reflect on the day, sharing their highlights of the camping trip—exploring the river, connecting in English, or sharing a laugh.
The grand finale of the campfire is the marshmallow roasting. Perfectly golden-brown roasted marshmallows are a timeless campfire tradition, helping to make the campfire one of the fondest memories of the camping experience.
Language Levels & Natural Progression
With over 25 years of experience in the Japanese education system, our staff thoughtfully support children from beginners to advanced speakers. The small-group structure allows even shy children to grow comfortable quickly.
Listening
Children begin by observing and responding comfortably.
Participating
Structured activities invite natural English use.
Communicating
By Day 2, many children begin speaking more freely and confidently.
Beginners
We use Visual Scaffolding. We don't just say the word "Fire"; we hold the wood and show the spark. Your child understands the language using concrete means, without needing to translate or teach grammar. This approach comes from years of classroom experience.
Intermediate & Advanced
These children are encouraged to interact and communicate at a higher level, creating an environment where they can use their English abilities in a real communicative way, and may be asked to mentor lower level or shy children.
For Shy Children: Because of the limited participation, we are able create a familiar, low-pressure environment where even the quietest children soon begin to shine. By utilizing small-group interactions and "Action-Based" communication, we ensure students never feel overwhelmed and the "pressure to perform" disappears, allowing children to build confidence and find their voice at their own pace.
Experience & Educational Background
For over 25 years, I have worked with children in educational and outdoor settings, guiding language development through real-world interaction.
My background combines classroom English instruction, hands-on outdoor facilitation,
and family-centered programming. This camp brings those elements together in a
thoughtfully structured two-day experience.
The focus is simple:
thoughtful preparation,
clear structure,
calm leadership,
and meaningful English use in natural situations.
“I was nervous at first because it was a small program, but that turned out to be exactly what made it special.
My child was not lost in a crowd. He was seen, encouraged to communicate and interact in ways that felt natural.
The campfire reflection on the first night is something our family still talks about.
I could see his confidence grow in just two days.”
— Parent, Kyoto (Age 9 son)
“I have never seen my daughter interacting with others that much in two days.
The small group made all the difference.”
— Parent, Kobe (Age 11 daughter)

Family Reflection Session
Guided family reflection reviewing your child’s participation and growth
* Some children feel shy about speaking English at first. That is natural. We create a calm environment where confidence grows gradually, not through pressure. Growth is gradual — and often surprises parents most.
** Kids Staff (子どもスタッフ) is a guided responsibility period where children assist with simple camp tasks such as organizing equipment, preparing shared spaces, and supporting younger participants. It builds confidence and ownership.
Safety & The "Shared Role" System
Staff lead the adventure. Parents lead the protection.
Why This Structure?
Parents remain actively nearby as part of our shared-role structure. This allows the staff to focus more on the activities, giving the children maximum opportunities for interaction and enjoyment.
Parents remain actively involved in supervising their own children throughout the experience. They are an essential part of the safety ecosystem. While camp leadership guides the English activities and outdoor programming.
Medical Readiness: We maintain basic first aid kits and the camp is located within close proximity to regional medical facilities.
Staff remain onsite overnight: For your family's peace of mind, staff stay at the campground. You can rest easily at night.
* Intentionally limited in size to protect safety and quality.

Many children arrive feeling unsure. Because the group is small,
participation is guided gently. No child is pressured.
English is used naturally within activities, which reduces anxiety.
Does my child need strong English skills?
No. Children are supported at their level. English is used in a natural manner throughout the camp, and brief Japanese clarification is available when needed to ensure comfort and understanding.
Will my child enjoy it?
The program blends guided adventure, river exploration, teamwork challenges, and relaxed camp moments. Children are active, engaged, and often surprised by how comfortable they feel.
Why only five families?
Small size ensures safety, clarity, and meaningful participation.
Each child receives thoughtful attention.
That level of support is rare in larger programs.
What makes this different from a regular camp?
English is integrated intentionally throughout the experience.
It is not an added lesson — it is part of the environment.
Children use it while building, exploring, solving, and sharing.
Do parents need to speak English to participate?
Not at all. While the camp is an immersive English environment for the children, parents do not need any English ability to enjoy the weekend.
Our experienced staff lead all activities and workshops, providing the necessary language support for the children. For your peace of mind, all vital safety briefings, camp preparation materials, and important logistical information are provided in Japanese. You are there to be the "Safe Harbor" for your child. We lead the English; you lead the encouragement.
Ready for Your Outdoor English Experience?

Clothing
This is just a quick note about campfires.
Bring extra! It is better to have and not need, rather to need and not have.
Plan for rain or snow. You will need to change out of wet clothing, especially in winter!
You don't need expensive designer clothing. Similar quality can be found in less expensive stores.
Hey there.....

Cold Weather
It's getting cold! Here are a few ideas to help keep you warm during your winter camping.
Dress in layers. This helps keep your body heat trapped inside.
If you sweat, change into dry clothing. The wet clothing will cool your body down.
Try not to sleep directly on the cold ground. Use a mat that has a reflective coating to reflect your body heat back to you.
Avoid thick air mattresses. Your body heat will heat up the air in the mattress, cooling you down.

Food
Recently there are lots of camping food videos on the internet. Here are some ideas for you.
Camping food doesn't need to be fancy or difficult. Keep it simple and enjoy your time.
Bring food that is easy to prepare, or prepare at home before leaving. Then just heat it up at the campsite!
A simple knife and cutting board will make preparation easier.
To make clean-up easier, try disposable plates & utensils.
Campers really enjoy spending time in Nature. Away from busy roads and autocamp sites where neighbours are packed closely together. Come and refresh your spirit in Nature!

Kid Friendly
There are lots of activities for kids to do at the campsite. Some more popular activities are, bracelet making, firewood splitting (safely), foreign outdoor games, river playing, and kodomo staff.

Group Campfire
All campers love our evening campfire. Campers can help split firewood, build and light the campfire! Then enjoy conversation, the night sky, and making new friends.
